Having your child’s picture taken should be a special experience, capturing them when they are happy, contented and relaxed is important to us. Baby photos can be taken as soon as you like as babies change so much and so quickly, there are so many beautiful, borrowed moments to capture in those 1st months and years. The key to us getting great pictures is that everyone feels relaxed and comfortable and this will then be reflected in the images that we can capture.

The non-refundable deposit of £30.00 needs to be paid at the time of booking the appointment; this will secure your appointment slot and can be paid by card over the phone if you wish to. If your child is ill, then please telephone us as soon as possible and we will try to re-arrange your appointment. Please give us as much notice as possible so as we can cancel the appointment. We can allow up to 2 changes of appointment dates before the session fee is forfeited, as the session appointments cannot be filled at the last minute and we still have to pay for the photographer’s time.

The most important thing when photographing a baby is that the Mum is relaxed, babies pick up on it when you are feeling stressed, so relaxing is very important for everyone involved. We will do our best to relax you both, as sessions with a baby or child can be unpredictable, therefore, we expect this and don’t expect baby to ‘perform’ on cue and are ready for the unexpected so relax and enjoy it. If baby cries during the session, then we stop for a cuddle and a break and resume when they are ready, it can be quite stressful for them in the studio, in a strange environment, so easing them in gently is best.

Babies are best photographed after they have had a sleep, when they are fully rested, well fed and happy. Young babies also have a limited amount of smiles so try not to play with your baby too much before the session begins as then you will get the best responses when you talk and play with your baby during the session and these can be captured more easily and these moments make great pictures.

|
If your child is unwell or just had their inoculations, then please reschedule your appointment, we will not get great pictures from an extremely unhappy or unwell baby so it is better to cancel the appointment and re-book for another time.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Please do bring along a few of your baby’s favourite toys to make them feel more comfortable and relaxed and maybe even help them to raise a smile and these can be an added distraction to the bright lights and unfamiliar setting.

|
|
|
|
|
We can create a montage of images of a very young baby who is unable to sit up or smile, these might be of hands, feet, eyes, ears and belly buttons as well as the traditional image of your baby on a beanbag, this makes for a much more meaningful memory of a tiny baby, than pictures that are all the same or very similar. This will be further explained to you and any particular requirements you may have will be taken into consideration to capture your special, borrowed moment’s photographs.

When dressing your child/baby, remember that simplicity is the key, solid single colours work better than bold stripes or patterns, which may take the focus away from their face. If you want to bring a change of outfit then that is not a problem, we can supply a changing mat for you to change them on.

|
|
|
The session can last anything from 30 minutes to 75 minutes depending on how happy, relaxed and co-operative your child is during the session. Some children take to it like a duck to water; others need more time and patience, we are prepared for either!
|
|
|
|
At the session, we will also confirm a viewing appointment with you for approx. 1 week later, to come in and view your un-edited pictures to narrow down the selection and to choose which prints you want re-touched and produced and in what sizes.
